- Literature is not just about summarizing existing knowledge
- Identify gaps in the literature and how your research will fit into there and add to the field of research you're in
- The three step process
1. identify your information
- Search for papers
- network citation trees
- google scholar search
- follow the connections and read the abstracts and the papers themselves if relevant
2. Start writing
- type out headings of the different sections that you want
- brain dump worry less about format
- keep a tight lid on your references
- never copy what other people say, dont plagerize
3. edit, edit, edit
- weave the research together to show the broad overview of the field
- keep your sentences short and tight and link them together
- keep coming back to it, step away and come back
