- How To write the academic paper
- start with the` results` section first
- everything revolves around this
- includes graphs, tables, and visualizations
- clean, concise, and simple as possible so first glance yields insight or sparks curiosity
- simple reporting, no discussion, succinct
- next is `methods and materials` or `discussion`
- if not in good writing space, methods and materials is a simpler thing to just get out of the way
- discussion is where you take your results and interpret them
- what you found
- what the reasons for some of these patterns might be
- relate to prior findings
- similarities and/or differences
- talk about what future research could do for this study field
- Next is the `introduction` which is the literature part of the paper
- put your paper into context
- state your aims and hypotheses on some of the gaps that have been identified in the literature
- your `abstract` is the summary of your paper
- 250 - 300 words
- 1-2 sentences on each of your sections
- not much discussion, just main results and conclusions
- your `title` should be <15 words to grab readers attention
- write in the past tense
- study has BEEN done
- results have BEEN found
- dont ramble, relate everything back to the main point
