#### [[ABC lists are a great tool for associative thinking]] --- To plumb the depths of our our associations between thoughts, ideas, and concepts, we can make use of a particular exercise called [[ABC lists are a great tool for associative thinking|ABC-Lists]] developed by [[@Vera F. Birkenbihl]]. ^066de8 To use this exercise simply write out a list of the 26 English alphabet and then think of the topic and for each association write that word next to the letter it starts with. ### Example `Topic:` "White" | Letter | Association | |:------:|:-------------------------------------------- | | A | Airpods, Albinism, Asatru | | B | Bow | | C | Car, Complacency | | D | Door, Domination | | E | Entitlement | | F | Flight | | G | | | H | Hair | | I | Ignorance, Indigenous, [[Infrahumanization]] | | J | | | K | Kitchen | | L | | | M | Man, Marble | | N | Nationalists | | O | | | P | Privilege, Pale, Power, People, Pride | | Q | | | R | Rose, Racism | | S | Stone, Supremacy, Sociology | | T | Table | | U | Ubermensch^[[[Infrahumanization#^cd74bd]]] | | V | | | W | Wash | | X | | | Y | | | Z | | You have the list and you fill in the associations with the topic. - You can have as many words for each letter as you want - You can use different languages - if topic: `Vision` then *eyes* in English for **E** and *augen* for **A** in Deutsch - You can leave Letters blank if nothing comes to mind - Some do this until ideas run out - Others may set a timer for the exercise --- Tags: [[Thinking]] - [[Knowledge Work]] - [[Association]] Reference: [[+ 2021-01-23 ABC-lists]] Related: - [[Knowledge Worker]]
