#### Fake it till you make it --- With many things in life, sometimes you just need to get over yourself first.^[[[Get over your ego]]] The brain and body are intricately and inextricably linked. A good example of this is the posture of the body; Tall and confident, or slumped and avoidant can shape the psychological makeup of the brain. If i hold myself up tall and straight, keep my eyes straight and level, chest up, shoulders back. My body is telling my brain i'm holding a confident and powerful posture. Even if i am not a confident person, this linkage of physiology and psychology will cause me to start to feel like a more confident person. The same goes for smiling, if you are feeling unhappy, sometimes just smiling very big and holding that face for a while will make you feel better because your body is tricking your brain into releasing the pleasure inducing neurotransmitters in your brain that come with happiness as it thinks you are happy based on the actions of your body. The entire idea of fake it until you make it is that we don't just start out as confident people with high levels of self assuredness and self actualization. Sometimes we need to act like we are confident in order to reprogram our brains into truly being more confident by "believing our own lie to ourselves". This sounds bad but it really isn't if the outcome is only ever positive for your own improvement. Often this strategy works as no one knows your inner monologue to say: > Oh he's not confident, he's just faking it They really don't know so you'll likely never be called on this, as well as the likelihood that those individuals are too absorbed in their own personal narrative to even worry about whats going on with yours.^[[[life is too short]]] --- Tags: [[Confidence]] - [[Psychology]] - [[Physiology]] - [[Self Improvement]] References: Related: - [[Imitation and emulation is worthless if you cannot emulate the individual through even the toughest of circumstances and see the tough times through]]
