#### [[Rulers gain followership by force leaders by inspiration]] --- Being forced into subservience through coercion (e.g., control of resources or legal authority), is an act perpetrated by a *“Ruler”*. To be a **Leader** is to inspire followership in others so that they follow you freely, gladly, and of their own volition. **Leaders** in contrast to *rulers* instill trust and enthusiasm in their followers instead of fear. Leaders have the vision to identify the direction to move in and then influence others to contribute to the group goal and move forward in that direction.
