#### [[The corrupting influence of power occurs gradually like a frog in a pot of boiling water]] --- One of the corrupting influences of power is that it can change perception. The perception of one's subordinates and perhaps even worse, the perception of one's self. With this warped perception and an inability to recognize one's inner truth one may begin to act on these false sensibilities. Imagining one's self as a locus of control and because you are the one with power that the actions of others are less of their own independence and initiative and instead the end result of your impetus and direction. The gradular effects of this corruption occur not all at one, and likely occur in a less than perceptible manner. Instead the shifting of the perception is like the heating of a frog in a pot of water. The gradual change in temperature is imperceptible but it is happening none the less and the final culmination of the effect is a pot of boiling water and a cooked frog. --- Tags: [[Perception]] - [[Power]] - [[Psychology]] - [[Leadership]] Reference: [[& 2021-01-15 DOES POWER CORRUPT]] Related: - [[Humans inherently reject domineering alpha males in favor of democracy]] - [[It is easier to influence others if you emotionally distance yourself from them]]
